Obituary of Margaret A. Robinson

Margaret Arnell Robinson

On March 11, 2024 at 9:23 a.m., Margaret Arnell Robinson transitioned peacefully to eternal rest surrounded by her family. She was born March 1, 1945 to the late William and Viola Owens.

During Margaret’s early childhood in Camp Town, Franklin, VA she loved to play baseball and basketball with her siblings and friends. She also enjoyed playing red light, green light, and other school yard games. In her adolescent years Margaret attended Piney Grove Baptist Church in Franklin, VA under the leadership of Rev. G.W. Johnson. She graduated from George Tyler High School in 1962. After graduating high school, she moved to Arlington. VA. There she connected with a good friend by the name of Beulah Blow.

While in Arlington, she met Henry H. Robinson and solidified their relationship by getting married on November 22, 1965. Soon after, they multiplied and became fruitful as the Bible says.

Margaret was first employed by Phillips Restaurant in Franklin as a server. Soon after she relocated to Arlington, she worked as a server for Bob’s Big Boy on Columbia Pike and at a nursing home for several years. Margaret worked as a Long-Distance Telephone Operator at C&P Telephone, later known as AT&T, for 25 years. After retiring from the phone company, she filled her time by working as a part-time Bus Attendant with Arlington County Public Schools Transportation Department for 8 years.

She continued her faith journey at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Arlington in 1975 with her husband and children. While there she joined several auxiliaries which included: the Usher Board, the OGS Inspirational Choir, directed by Min. Eric Green, and the Zion Choraleers, directed by the late Dr. Yvonne Love. Margaret’s motto was “In this house we shall serve the Lord.” She was a dedicated and a faithful woman of God. She loved talking on the phone with her beloved sisters “Woman of Grace.”  After every Saturday OGS Inspirational Choir rehearsal, she spent her time fellowshipping with the “The Golden Girls” (Mary Chase, Mary Roseboro, Marsha Dubé, and Nancy Townes). She loved going out to lunch with many of her other friends. She also loved going out to the nail shop and hair salon with her daughters and granddaughters.

She loved watching “The Young and the Restless” as well as sports, especially the Redskins/ Commanders and calling her son Skeeter or daughter Pam to give a play by play of the game due to the loss of her sight. Her favorite basketball player was Lebron James of the Lakers and her basketball team was the Washington Wizards.

Margaret had an open door where everyone was welcomed and many became extended children.

Margaret is proceeded in death by her husband, Henry H. Robinson, her parents, William and Viola Owens, and brothers, William and James Owens.

She leaves behind her sisters, Bertha Pope, Toni Branch, and Jean Russell (Franklin, VA) and one brother, Roy Owens (Stafford, VA). Her legacy continues with her 6 children, Patricia Brawley, Timothy Robinson, Pamela McMillian (Anthony), Candice Jenkins, Nina Johnson, and James Robinson (Angela).

She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren (18), great-grandchildren (20), nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well as special cousins, the Woodley family, Helen Deloatch and Reverend Delores Manley.
