Deacon Eric Antonio Hall
Eric Antonio Hall was born on August 27,1964 in Washington, DC as the youngest of six siblings to late Bertha L. Thompson and James E. Hall Jr.
Eric was educated in the DC Public School System where he attended Simon, Hart, and Ballou Senior High Schools. Sports were always an interest to Eric. He was an avid and skilled basketball player and played various positions. Because of his height, he was a lead player for his high schools.
While attending high school, he noticed a young female track runner. Her name was Faye Christian whom he had to meet her. The two dated for a while, fell in love, and later became high schools sweethearts. Their union produced a beautiful daughter, Erica S. Christian/Kornegay whom they treasured and adored. Faye brought into the union a son, Keith Christian, whom Eric also loved and assumed responsibility of helping Faye raise him as his own.
After high school, Eric began working for the William C. Smith Company and remained with them until he became disabling due to a back injury. When he wasn't hard at work, Eric had an array of hobbies which he truly enjoyed with one of them being his baking. His scrumptious baked goods were highly popular. People really enjoyed them. That would actually become his second favorite hobby. He also was known for being a sports enthusiast. His favorite team was the Washington Redskins. Those close to him knew when the season came, you better have your stats and facts together because he would be ready to talk some sports. Being a spirit filled man, he believed in serving his Lord and Savior any way he could.
Deacon Hall enjoyed singing. He became involved in different church choirs which allowed him the opportunity to give praise and worship to the Lord he served. Deacon Hall was never a selfish man. Volunteering his time and efforts was another way he found a way to give something back to those that gave to him. Eric was great volunteer for the Children of Mine Center under the Late Hannah Hawkins, and Wanda Robinson. He was always ready at the call to aid and assist anyone in need of help or assistance. In addition, Eric also became a student and volunteer with the Literacy Volunteers and Advocates Organization or LVA under the mentoring and leadership of the former Executive Director, Ms. Rita Daniels. He was so proud to be associated with their efforts and remained connected with them until his passing. All that works that Eric did was unconditional. That was the Godly way. Holidays were a joyous time for Eric. He took pride in arranging Christmas and other holiday decorations. If you told him what and how you needed it, you didn't have to worry about it anymore. He'd stand back with you and say, "You like it?" with a big smile on his face, and say: “I knew you would."
Deacon Hall believed in being connected and participating in a House of Worship. It was important to him and his spirit. Eric was member Imani Temple, African American Catholic Congregation where he served in different ministries for more than 26 years. He began to understand God's teachings and soon fell in love with God under the teaching of Archbishop George Augustus Stallings Jr. While in membership at Imani Temple, Eric developed a fondness for singing and he soon joined the Mass Choir under the directions of late Wesley Boyd, John Stanley, Kevyn Rogers and many more. Eric later left Imani Temple with a yearning to learn more, not just about God but about himself. One day, one of his Goddaughters Kimberly asked him to attend her church, Harvest Worship Center. There he found in awakening and love under the teachings of Pastor Gwen Smith and Elder John Smith. He remained an active member until his passing.
Eric leaves to cherish his son-n-law Rodriquez N. Kornegay, two granddaughters Trinity and Amoura Kornegay , his sibling James E. Hall III (Gladys), Terry T. Hall, Gloria J. Madden (John) , Tracy A. Hall (Gina), and Cheri O. Hall (William) his only aunt Genevieve Morse. His nieces/great, nephews/great cousins, his God children’s and best friend Tracy Johnson and a host of family and friends, Eric also love his late cats Anna Mae, and Coco.
On August 9, 2020, God concluded Deacon Hall's works here on earth, and was pleased. He stretched out His arms and said: "Come home, good and faithful servant."
