Obituary of Shawnitte A. Somers

Shawnitte Annette Somers aka “Shawny” was born to Laurie A. Somers and Warfield S. Keene on May 31, 1973 in Arlington, VA.  She peacefully transitioned from Earth to Glory on August 18, 2020.
Shawny was raised among a large loving family including a Great Grandmother, Grandparents, a host of Aunts and Uncles, and of course her devoted Mother.
 

Shawny graduated from Arlington’s Washington Lee High School 1994 and received a basketball scholarship to Virginia State University where she pursued a degree in psychology.
She was last employed by Forrest Solutions as an Intake/Supply Specialist in Washington, DC.  Shawny loved sports, especially the Redskins, family gatherings and music.
 

Shawny spent her early childhood in Bailey’s Crossroads VA as a member of The Scripture Church of Christ, pastor, Elder George L. Marshall.  She participated in all children’s activities.  The Family later moved to Praise Temple Ministries, Woodbridge, VA at that time pastored by Elder William H. Thompson Jr.;  Shawny at the time of her departure was a member of Woodstream Church, Mitchellville, MD, Pàstor Robert Wingfield.
 

On her paternal side she leaves to cherish her memory:  Mikhail, Mikhail, Alexandra Keene (siblings), StepMom Charlene Keene, Aunt Teresa Keene, Uncle Pete and family
On her maternal side 5 uncles:  Reginald - Rusty (Cheryl); Dwight (Diane); William-Dump; John (Majorie); Garfield (Gervine); one Aunt Vonda and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends.
