Circle Ministry Hope posted a condolence
Tuesday, January 12, 2021
“One day, a beam of light shone through A crevice that had opened wide The rose bent gently toward its warmth Then passed beyond to the other side”
The members of Circle Hope were saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved member Sister Rose Harris. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church. She served faithfully as an usher, served on the kitchen committee, and was a member of the missionary society.
To the family of Sister Harris, we extend our deepest sympathies, and pray that the peace of God will be with you and bring you comfort.
May the Lord’s hands of compassion and love, And His guiding light from above,
Shine down upon you and give you strength. During this time of sorrow,
May you find comfort in knowing,
That friends share in your loss.

Senior Usher Ministry posted a condolence

Sister Rose Harris
The Senior Usher Ministry of First Baptist Church is saddened to hear of the passing of our faithful and devoted member, Rose Harris.
Sister Harris served in many capacities for First Baptist Church. She served on Young Adult Usher Board for many years and then progressed to the Senior Usher Board. In 2001, she was selected as President of the Board and remained as President through 2006. Afterwards, she remained on the Board and served until her health failed.
Whenever the doors of the church were open, Sister Harris was always there at funerals and numerous church programs. She was also a member of the International Church Ushers Association, Inc., of Washington, DC and Vicinity (ICUA) for many years, and traveled with them around the United States until her health failed. She was an excellent example of a good and faithful servant, responding to her calling to serve the Lord. Sister Harris always said to the Ushers, “this is our Board, not my Board so you should serve like you are proud to be in service”. She always stressed that when people came into the House of the Lord, they should be greeted with a smile and a friendly gesture and feel welcome.
Sister Harris’ love for God, her church, and ushering, serves as a legacy for her as she has inspired many of us to step up and serve. We learned so much from her and we will never forget her loving spirit.
We will truly miss Sister Harris, but we know that the doors of Heaven will be open for her smiling and welcoming spirit to the heavenly gates as she did for so many years here at First Baptist Church.
To the family, we the members of the Senior Usher Ministry, offer our deepest sympathy and condolences and want you to know that an Usher has moved up to welcome us through the Gates of Heaven and we could not ask for a more welcoming spirit.
Go on Sister Rose, continue to welcome souls into heaven!
