To Beany – a lifelong friend who always remembered more about my childhood than I did! You were always kind to the "egghead" kid who watched Star Trek and actually liked school. I'm sorry you'll miss the next meeting of the Birthday Club but we'll have a toast in your honor!
She is Gone (adapted from a poem by David Harkins)
You can weep that she is gone,
Or you can smile because she lived.
You can close your eyes and wish her back,
Or you can celebrate all she had to give.
You can think about her often and grieve that she is gone,
Or you can cherish memories that let her linger on.
If your heart is feeling empty that she’s no longer here,
You can fill it with the love she left to all who she held dear.
You can cry and close your mind, or turn your back in sorrow,
Or you can do what she would want:
Turn around, smile, and live for tomorrow.
Rest well, my friend, until we meet again.
