I met Immeri when I was in the third grade. We have just moved to Penbrooke from Hickory Hill. He was older than me, and lived downstairs from us. He was a funny guy. He was always cracking jokes, and would make you laugh. Immeri had a special talent, and I looked up to him for it. Immeri could rap, and was a wordsmith. I remember the first time I heard him spit as we call it. We were at his mother’s apartment. I spent most of my time there, or at my own house, because we had moved in directly above them. He inspired me to become a rapper along with my big brother. I remember wanting his approval for everything that I did as I got older even though we had since moved away. I will never forget being able to do my first song with him years later. I was 15 years old, and visiting for the summer. We had set up a makeshift recording studio using a tape recorder to capture our vocals. It was me, Immeri, Ron, and Forty. It felt good to finally show him what I had, and it all paid off too. I will never forget that day, because it is the first time he called me cold on the mic. Although, we moved on I will never forget Immeri Mitchell. He was more than a friend, we were raised like cousins, but we were all more like brothers.
